Business group shares ‘great sadness’ after tapas bar closes

-

A RESTAURANT and bar just next door to the Everyman Theatre has announced that it has closed for good.

Bar Padron on Regent Street is an authentic Spanish Tapas bar that opened in 2019, half a year before the start of the pandemic.

It served classic small plates all made from Spanish-sourced produce as well as top-quality cervezas and sangria.

Independent business owners in Cheltenham have called the loss of the business a “great sadness.”

In the business’ closing notice, Bar Padron’s owner Matthew Wood said: “It is with an extremely heavy heart to announce the closure of Bar Padron.

“We feel honoured to have had the opportunity to bring an authentic Spanish experience to Cheltenham.”

Independent business collective TURF Cheltenham said: “It is with great sadness that we learnt yesterday that one of our inaugural members of TURF Cheltenham has taken the incredibly tough decision to close as of this weekend.

“We wish Matt and all his team at Bar Padron all the best for their last few days and good luck in whatever adventures come their way next.”
