Lotus power

-

Lotus has never been in better shape. The Norfolk sports car company, now owned by giant Geely, has just announced prices for its new Eletre fullyelectric SUV, going into production next summer.

Lotus building an electric SUV is anathema to many who love their lightweight sports cars but it’s clearly a good move that will protect jobs.

Prices for the Eletre start at £89,500 for the standard version, £104,500 for the Eletre S and £120,000 for the Eletre R. All come with a 112kwh battery for a range of 373 miles (the R’s range is 304 miles) and support charging at 420kw. In theory it means a 10-80% charge will take only 20 minutes. And how does 0-62mph in 2.95 seconds grab you?

Alfa Romeo has facelifted its Giulia and Stelvio models for 2023. Predictably, the changes are fairly minor with tweaked headlamps and a new grille. According to Alfa, the latter gives the saloon and SUV a greater family link to the new Tonale SUV.

The changes inside the two models are more substantial with both getting a digital instrument panel that can be configured into three layouts: Evolved, Relax and Heritage.
