Rising star Hathaway joins senior Academy
» GLOUCESTER have continued the club’s rich tradition of peppering the squad with top Welsh talent by signing Wales Under-20 full-back Josh Hathaway.
The club confirmed on Friday the 6ft, 13st 3lb mid-walian has joined the Cherry and Whites’ senior academy from United Rugby Championship side the Scarlets with immediate effect, marking him out as one to watch in the future.
Hathaway is from Aberystwyth and began his playing career with Aberystwyth RFC where he also represented Ceredigion Schools U15s before joining the Scarlets Rugby academy.
The full-back was handed his Wales Under-20 international debut against Italy in March this year, although that day he played on the wing.
Hathaway is currently studying at Hartpury College and becomes the latest in a long line of Hartpury students to sign for the Cherry and Whites.
He will aim to follow in the footsteps of former Hartpury stars such as Jonny May and fellow Welshman Louis Rees-zammit in becoming a Gloucester star.
