Lee’s hat-trick helps Centurions to 5-0 win

-

SKIPPER Jake Lee scored a hat-trick as Cirencester romped to a 5-0 Southern League, Division One Central win over Kempston Rovers.

The Centurions opened the scoring midway through the first half and converted a couple of penalties just before the interval.

Two more goals were added late in the game to confirm the three points.

Levi Irving produced a firm nearpost header to open the scoring and two penaltes from Lee gave John Brough’s side a 3-0 lead at the interval.

After the break, Lee completed his hat-trick from close range and Joe Shepherd added the fifth.

In Division One South, Charlie Davis popped up two minutes into stoppage time to strike the winning goal through a crowded penalty area as Evesham United went down 2-1 at AFC Totton.

Totton led on 14 minutes when defender Charlie Wise was caught napping by Scott Rendell, who stole possession to score.

With 13 minutes to go, Evesham levelled when Kyle Belmonte sent in a curling in-swinging free-kick that bounced in the penalty area for Daniel Griffiths to head home.

But just as it looked as if Evesham would take a point, up popped Davis to score.

Bishop’s Cleeve crashed to a 5-1 home defeat against Hamworthy United, who scored four times after the break.

Max Wilcock’s goal was cancelled out by Cleeve’s George Box, then Ed Hodge (two), Alfie Matthews and Remus Nixon sealed the win for Hamworthy.
