Green completes 700th marathon as Kieran conquers Dublin

ALMOST Athletes’ Allan Green completed his 700th marathon at Walton on Thames, completing the four laps of the Thames towpath in five hours 15 minutes.

Kieran Keating ran the Dublin Marathon in an impressive time of 3:24.30, and not only finished in the top 20 runners in his age category but also took four minutes off his PB - all with his arm in plaster and an injured knee.

Ingrid Harris took on the Bath Hilly Half, which entails over 1716 feet of ascent, and finished in 2:10, a good time over a difficult course.

Three runners completed the incredibly muddy Sodbury Slog, David Jones finished the 10-mile course in 1:42:17, Lorraine Brinton in 2:09:02 and Coralie Pearson in 2:51:36.

Many Almosts recorded parkrun age group bests with Jeanette Gullick and Peter Mitchener taking top spot in their age categories at Cheltenham with times of 23:27 and 22:27 and Elzbieta Antosiewic­z coming home first in her age category at Worcester Pitchcroft in 26:04.

Chris Handscomb not only came first in the SM 30-34 category at Gloucester North but also celebrated a PB with a time of 24:10.

Heather Smith and Mike Smith joined the Centurion club after their run at Tetbury Goods Shed, crossing the line of their 100th parkruns each together in a time of 29:33.

Daniel Magovern enjoyed a new course at Gloucester City with a time of 22:54, while Neil Tring enjoyed his 240th parkrun at Cheltenham King George V, coming first in his age group and his age grading.

More than 25 Almosts joined Jeanette Gullick and Peter Mitchener at Cheltenham to run the course and 15 others ran alongside Neil Tring at King George V.

Other parkruns attended by club members this week included Gloucester Kingsway (Hester Coggins, 24:21) Gloucester North (Mike Bryce, 23:24), Gloucester City (Mike Kennedy, Duncan Mounsor, Chris Mcmahon and Vicki James in 21:32, 22:04, 24:52, 35:47), Forest of Dean (Norm Lever, 29:48), Rogiet (Dave Mayo and Iris Mayo, 24 49 and 33:52) Tewkesbury (Steve Wallbridge, Sarah Wallbridge, Andrea Hardy and Philip Jeyes in 25:10, 27:11, 30:37 31:07), Worcester (Joshua Hand, 20:09) Cannon Hill (Issy Ravenhill, 23:03), University Parks (Kev and Patricia Dendy, 35:34 and 45:08) and Marine Parade (Jason Hulance, 34:23).
