My perfect meal at this hidden gem

While working in Cheltenham recently, I stumbled across Muse, a French brassiere ranked as the second best hidden gem in the UK by Tripadvisor.

After reading rave reviews about the St George’s Road venue

(pictured, right) earlier in the day, I knew I had to pop in to see what all the fuss was about. And I was not disappointed.

After being offered water and handed a complimentary bread roll, I had a look through the menu. I decided to go for a two-course meal for £18.95, although if I had more time I would have been tempted to have a threecourse one for just £3 more. I chose to have Le Tiffin

(pictured, below) as my main, consisting of malai chicken, tikka, cumin rice, paratha and papadums, followed by gluten free sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream.

After only a 15-minute wait, my food arrived. Served in small ceramic pots, the Le Tiffen was devine. I love curries, but do not have them regularly. I genuinely go for a tikka because I don’t like my curries to be too spicy, and this one was just perfect.

Curries can be filling, but there was definitely room for dessert. And what a treat I had - a beautiful sticky toffee pudding with the most elegant of ice cream.

In my opinion £18.95 and £21.95 for a two-course or three-course lunch is excellent value for money considering the quality of the food. The most expensive item on the menu was an eight ounce ribeye steak for £28. There are vegetarian and vegan options.

One reviewer on Tripadvisor said that, if they lived in Cheltenham, they would visit Muse every weekend. I can see why.
