Irving at the double as Cirencester keep up their good run of form
CIRENCESTER Town continued their good run of form in Southern League, Division One Central with a 2-1 win over Hertford Town.
After scoring two goals in the first eight minutes, the visitors rallied to score mid-way through the second period leading to a tense finale.
The Centurions made the perfect start when Levi Irving latched onto a loose pass, turned and drove it inside the right post within two minutes.
Cirencester pressed forward and a cross to the back post was headed in by Irving – despite the ‘keeper getting a hand to it.
After the interval Hertford came out with renewed purpose and
David Ogbonna scored mid-way through the half to set up an exciting finale, but Cirencester held on for the win.

Tuesday night, the Centurions travelled to Thame
United with a depleted squad but came away with a 1-1 draw.
The home side opened the scoring after four minutes when a corner kick was cleared to the edge of the box but Gregory Hackett struck a shot that took a deflection on its way in.
But Jay Simpson delivered a low cross towards the near post where Irving allowed the ball to run and it struck a defender to end up in the back of the net for an own goal.
Despite two goals from debutant Ross Langworthy, Bishop’s Cleeve lost 6-3 at home to Wimborne Town in Division One South on Saturday.
The Magpies led in the fifth minute through Lewis Beale but Cleeve equalised in the 22nd minute with a Harrison Reeves header.
Goals from Harry Morgan and Harry Baker saw Wimborne take a 3-1 halftime lead.
Oakley Hanger made it 4-1, then Langworthy pulled one back in the 76th minute. Baker’s second made it 5-2 before Langworthy scored again in the 86th minute, and Aaron Roberts rounded off the scoring.
On Tuesday night, Evesham United were beaten 2-0 at home by Westbury United, Joe Stradling and Aaron Cockerill scoring.
