Honours even in Cotswold derby showdown

IT was honours even in the Cotswold derby in Hellenic League Division One as Bourton Rovers and Moreton Rangers drew 1-1.

George Callinan scored for Bourton, with George Kirby replying for Moreton.

Paul Holmes and Stu Midwinter scored as Cheltenham Saracens won 2-0 at Kidlington Reserves, while bottom side Cirencester Town Development crashed 5-0 at next-to-bottom Littleton.

In the Premier Division, Fairford Town drew 2-2 at Royal Wootton Bassett on Friday night, having led 2-0 through Robbie James and Danny Gudger, who beat Matt Crowther to a loose ball before rounding the keeper and steering in from an angle.

But Matt Bennett headed in to make it 2-1 before Joe Wright failed to hold on when coming out to catch a bouncing ball and Bennett seized upon the error, slotting into the bottom corner from 10 yards out.

On Tuesday, Fairford were beaten 4-1 at bottom side Thornbury, Rowan Doyle scoring their goal.

Cheltenham Saracens went out of the GFA Trophy after a 5-2 home defeat by Brimscombe & Thrupp.
