Charity’s search for Good Samaritan

-

» CHARITY volunteers were blown away by a suprise act of kindness from a mystery Good Samaritan.

It happened after a former telephone box in the Pittville area of the town was covered in graffiti.

Barely two days passed before someone cleaned it all off, to the delight of Cheltenham Lions Club, which helps people in need and backs worthy causes in the town and further abroad.

It had converted the old BT facility in Central Cross Drive into a defibrillator station for use by the community 18 months ago.

The charity still owns and maintains it for the ambulance service.

Its fundraising chairman, Martin Shorland, said the vandalism and clean-up happened close together.

He said: “On Thursday I noticed the kiosk had been completely covered in graffiti over the red paint on the rear of it and also on the perspex windows on the door at the front.

“It looked like a real eyesore and we reported this to the police on the off-chance they would be able to catch the mindless individual who had done this.

“On Saturday, to my immense surprise, I noticed the kiosk had been cleaned completely of all graffiti by a mystery samaritan. Incredible for someone to take the time and effort to do this.”

He added that the club wanted to find out who the kind-hearted person was so that they could thank them.
