Appalled by responses at council meeting

I ATTENDED a council meeting at North Warehouse, interested to hear our elected representatives answer questions about climate change and deaths amongst the homeless of our city.

I was appalled by the response; a blatant lack of regard for the severity of the global warming crisis. Questions were simply pushed aside. Highlighting statements of intent and targets does not equate to action.

Not only is this short-sighted but it also serves to destroy my faith in the hard-won democratic process.

The defensive attitude was nothing short of dismissive, and at times plain rude.

What hope for the attempts of ordinary concerned individuals to engage with the democratic process. Shameful.
