Ollie, nine, uses sport to help causes
ANINE-YEAR-OLD boy has been praised for the massive amounts of money raised through events he has taken part in.
Ollie, from Cheltenham, is described as an inspiration by Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice because after watching the BBC’S Children in Need in 2021 he has gone above and beyond to raise more than £2,500 for the charity.
A huge fan of sports, Ollie has done his fundraising through charity football matches as well as plant sales and also races.
In Christmas 2023 Ollie did everything he could to make sure children did not go without a Christmas present too.
“I like giving money to people in need and helping people, it makes me feel happy,” Ollie said.
“I’ve organised three charity football matches for Sue Ryder so far. I decided to do the first one in December, and it was freezing cold, so the next two were in the summer!
Ollie adds: “Some people from my football team came, and I got all my friends to play too. I set up a Facebook page to organise and promote the event.
“I scored a hat trick last year!
“I wasn’t used to the size of the goals, so I kept hitting the post and the crossbar. I plan to do it every year from now on if I can.”
Alysia Cameron-price, community fundraising manager at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, said: “Ollie is an inspiration to all of us. To raise such a huge amount of money is simply amazing and shows real dedication.
“The funds Ollie has raised will make a huge difference to the lives of the patients and families we are able to support when it matters most.”
