Sing is on song with the boot as unbeaten run is extended
GLOUCESTER-HARTPURY’S unbeaten run in the Allianz PWR extended to five games with their 42-24 win over Loughborough Lightning.
Loughborough led through a Cath O’donnell try, but Gloucester-hartpury responded as Emma Sing finished in the corner and converted her try from the touchline.
Gloucester-hartpury got their second less than five minutes later as Kelsey Jones emerged from the pile of bodies to claim the score and extended their lead as Hannah Jones sidestepped the last defender to run in for a brilliant try. Sing nailed the touchline conversion.
O’donnell scored her second try of the game to cut Gloucester-hartpury’s lead to seven but the lead was quickly extended back to 14 when Sam Monaghan secured a try bonus point before the half time break.
Gloucester-hartpury got off to an electric start to the second half, as Georgia Brock marked her first start of the season with a try.
Loughborough got their third try from a wellworked line-out move but Gloucester-hartpury reacted quickly as Hannah Jones scored her second of the afternoon.
Sing capped off an exceptional afternoon from the tee when she drilled through her sixth conversion of the day, before the Loughborough side got their fourth try.
Eeva Pahjanheimo and Tess Evans both crossed twice as Cheltenham Tigers beat West Park Leeds 47-13 in Women’s Championship North 1.
Niamh Finlayson, Nadine Vincent and Maia Boucher-white also crossed, with Lauren Ebeling adding six conversions to leave Cheltenham second in the table, seven points behind leaders Sale with two games in hand.
In Women’s Championship South West 2, Drybrook beat bottom side Yeovil 22-6 as Katie Jeffery scored two tries, with one apiece for Stevie Liddiatt and Kayla Skidmore.
In Women’s NC 2 South West (North), Hucclecote were 19-0 winners over Greyhound, their tries coming from Bekah Rice, Bridgette Fraser and Alice Christopher, with two conversions from Chloe Barrow.
Cheltenham Civil Service scored a fine 41-29 win over Women’s NC 3 South West (North) leaders Kidderminster Carolians.
Georgina Keene scored a hat-trick of tries with two for Bethany Price, and one each for Wyke Boersma and Harriet Ratcliffe, Amber Coxhill adding three conversions.
Cheltenham North were edged out in the final play of the game, going down 22-20 to Luctonians.
Their tries came from Amy Wenham, Fi Hurt, Parys Gibbons and Georgia Cass.
