Levens stay top despite a 4-1 defeat by Bibury

LONGLEVENS Reserves stay top of Northern Senior League, Division One despite a 4-1 defeat at Bibury as their nearest challenger­s could only draw.

Declan Keen’s double and a goal each for Archie Day and Alfie Cook saw Bibury home, with Jack Bonser replying, but Levens still lead the way by a point.

Second-placed Tredworth Tigers drew 2-2 with fourth-placed Brockworth Albion, goals from Corey Hill and Lee Smith cancelled out by Albion’s Jamie Martin and Oliver Palmer.

Meanwhile, third-placed Dursley Town were held 1-1 at Charfield, for whom Joe Spill netted, with Aaron Nash replying for Dursley.

Smiths Barometric­s put five past FC Lakeside and sit fifth in the table after goals from Sebastien Rioux (two). Christian Hayward, Luke Walsh and Oliver Babbage.

Bredon’s good form continued as Dan Turner, Ben Turner and Sam Jones were on target in the 3-1 win at bottom side English Bicknor, leaving Bredon sixth in the table.

Sam Wines scored twice as Lydney Town Reserves were 5-2 winners at Stonehouse Town Reserves, Luke Williams, Jacob English and Jordi Sheen with their other goals, Ben Carman and Joe Williams replying.

Matt Tarling was another two-goal man for Tewkesbury Town in their 6-1 win at Berkeley Town, Rafferty Welch, Alex Roder, Noah Baillie and Henry Mcmahon also scoring.

There were thumping victories for the top two in Division Two, as Whaddon United put eight past Gala Wilton Reserves, while Staunton and Corse thumped Leonard Stanley 7-0.

Riley Butt, Lawrence Gorry and Tyler White all scored twice for unbeaten Whaddon, who have a six-point gap at the top over Staunton, for whom Liam James hit a hat-trick with Toby Summers and Chris Tillott scoring two apiece.

Third-placed Rodborough Old Boys won 4-1 at Frampton United Reserves, whose goal came from Tom Mangan, while Joe Braisby’s double gave fourth-placed Barnwood United a 2-0 win over fifth-placed Harrow Hill.

Lloyd Gardiner and Jeremy Stephenson scored as King’s Stanley were 2-1 winners over Cheltenham Civil Service Reserves, Liam Powell replying, and Churtis Whatley (two) and Kyran Hale netted in Mushet and Colway United’s 3-1 win over Viney St Swithins, whose goal came from Scott Edmonds.
