Consultation Developer seeks views over plans for 350 homes on MOD site
PEOPLE in the Tewkesbury area are being asked for their views on plans for a new neighbourhood consisting of around 350 homes on part of the existing MOD Ashchurch site, off the A46 near the M5.
St. Modwen Homes has launched a public consultation on its proposals, which form a small part of the Tewkesbury Garden Communities - a series of linked garden communities offering vibrant areas where people can live, work and play.
St. Modwen Homes’ proposals for the site would see the development of a previously developed brownfield site, breathing life into part of the land to the east of MOD Ashchurch which is no longer in use.
The plans would provide a variety of types of new homes to the area, supported by landscaping and infrastructure improvements.
The proposals would also include sustainability benefits for the area.
These would include the creation of open green spaces, enhancing the existing environment and improving habitats to support biodiversity.
Dave Smith, Managing Director, St. Modwen Homes said: “We are looking forward to sharing the plans for a new neighbourhood at MOD Ashchurch with the community and other stakeholders.
“We want to know what people think so we can create a high-quality place that works for new and existing residents.
“We’re creating plans that not only includes high quality homes, but also communal green spaces and infrastructure like footpaths and cycle paths to enable existing and new residents to thrive.
“Sustainability sits at the core of what we do and is incredibly important to us. We build our homes to a high standard and this previous brownfield site creates an opportunity to significantly improve habitats to support biodiversity.
“This would be a significant investment in the local area and presents a tremendous opportunity for St. Modwen Homes to support Tewkesbury Borough Council in helping to alleviate the housing crisis in the area.”
St. Modwen Homes held a public consultation event on the proposals at Tewkesbury Retail Market on Saturday, and will be holding another at Ashchurch Village Hall tomorrow (Friday, March 15) from 3pm-7pm.
Where possible, the feedback received at this event will be used to shape the proposals.
The public consultation will close on Thursday, March 21.
