Easter activities and events to enjoy with The Cheltenham Trust

» THIS Easter there’s a host of events across the trust’s venues to inspire, entertain, nurture and feed both body and soul, for all ages.

The Wilson Art Gallery and Museum brings exploring with an arty twist with its Easter egg hunt, running every day from March 23 to April 7, from 10am during gallery opening hours. Young hunters can pick up a trail map and head off across the galleries to find all the hidden Easter eggs and crack the secret code, picking out a prize from the giant lucky dip egg nest.

There’s Easter crafts with a family workshop, on Tuesday March 26, where children under 12 can create Easter pom-pom animal decoration­s, crackers, baskets and bonnets. The popular Creative Explorers’ artist led holiday club is back, running from March 27 to April 3, for children aged from five to 10, who love to make, share and play.

Explore the 79 artworks of the Radev exhibition, the largest collection of pieces from the world-acclaimed Radev Collection of 20th century art to go on public view since 2011. The exhibition is a first for The Wilson, and Cheltenham, and has sparked considerab­le interest since opening last week, it’s one not to miss during its run until September 1. Running in the Sir Charles Irving Community Art Gallery until April 27, Alive In Us, is a participat­ory, community project and living exhibition.

There’s more children’s Easter fun at Leisure at Cheltenham with the return of its popular Hoppin’ Boppin’ parties on Thursday March 28. Young partygoers, up to the age of eight, will enjoy Easter crafts, games, dancing and bouncy castles, and are invited to come wearing their own Easter bonnet creation for a chance to win a special prize. Over at the Garden Bar Orangery, the trust has joined forces with Cheltenham Swing Dance, bringing free taster dance lessons and live music to the community for the Easter weekend, Saturday March 30 and Sunday March 31.

On Saturday there’s line dancing, the Charleston, an introducti­on to partner swing dancing and dance roots Africa, and live music from The Moonlight Band noon to 2pm.

Sunday features dance moves from the 1960s, Charleston fitness, and live music from noon to 2pm with vintage singer Miss Em. All events are free of charge and suitable for both experience­d dancers and those who have not danced before.
