Manchester magic Almosts out in force over the marathon distance

AGROUP of 24 Almost Athletes took part in the Manchester Marathon, with Michael Johnstone first home for the club in 2:50:01. Second for the club and first lady in 3:35:42 was Rosemary Hubbard, with Joshua Rimell next for the club in a PB by more than an hour in 3:43:02.

They were followed by Emily Pascoe (3:43:18), Claire Sullivan (3:56:56), Claudiu-marian Stoica (first marathon, 3:58:50), Ben Spurrier (4:00:01), Ivana Wilson a PB by six minutes (4:00:25), Duncan Mounsor (4:03:06), Jo Sanderson (first marathon, 4:09:58), Nichola Sanderson (first marathon, 4:16:26), Mark Willicott (4:23:35), David Paul Jones (first marathon, 4:35:18), Allan Green (4:48:59), Tony Heap (4:57:40), Bob Spawton (4:57:40) and Iris Mayo with a PB by 23 minutes in 5:43:58.

Kevin Keegan also took part but had to drop out due to injury, while in the two-way relay, Alison and Rob Hume finished the distance in 4:04:18.

Claire Bone, Felicity Read, Melanie and Carl Methven (pictured, above) took part in the four-way relay, completing the distance in 4:49:05.

Elzbieta Antosiewic­z completed the Ultra X Spring Trails 75k in 11:32:14, while in Italy Coralie Pearson (5:37:55) and Rachael Nolan (6:41:56) ran in the Lake Garda Marathon.

Ingrid Harris completed the Hinchingbr­ooke Country Park Trail Marathon in sixth place, first lady over the line in 4:16:40, beating the next female runner by 35 minutes.

Ju Drop took part in the Hooded Horse 10k and completed the trail run in 1:39, while Josh Hand raced in the Bristol Track Club 5k and finished in a new V40 PB of 18:25.

At parkrun Alice Elizabeth was first overall at Severn Bridge in 18:27, missing out on the club 5k record by 10 seconds, while Sarah Wood was first lady at Marine Parade in 21:18, besting her PB by 34 seconds.

Sharmila Door completed her 100th parkrun in Cheltenham and 86 other Almosts ran, walked in parkruns in the UK and Germany.
