Bringing a taste of south India to Cotswolds

-

A NEW restaurant that specialises in South Indian food has opened in Gloucestershire. Located in the Cotswolds at 29, Sheep Street in Cirencester, Dosa Park is an independent business that also has three other sites in neigbouring Oxfordshire.

Serving south Indian dishes such as dosas, idlis, vadas, biryanis, curries and much more including vegan and vegetarian options to customers, this is Dosa Park’s first venture into Gloucestershire having been established for 15 years.

The building was the Spanish restaurant Tierra and Mar and the new restaurant is creating up to 10 full-time jobs and the hope is to offer something new on the Cotswold food scene.

Omer Rahim, as spokesperson and business co-owner said: “Cirencester is an ideal place for Dosa Park. The Indian restaurant in the UK is well known for adapting to the UK palette and there is an increase in south Indian food being popular.”

Speaking on the new opening, Omer said: “It’s always stressful to open for the first time but we have a very strong kitchen team and they have been quick to get us going. Customers can expect something different here and we’ve dined at different restaurants in Cirencester and we’ve researched the clientele, the services and a good reason for being here is Cirencester being a popular place for tourism.”

One huge factor for opening a new Dosa Park restaurant in Cirencester is loyal customers, Omer adds because the response from the community has been really welcoming. He said: “Lots of people have told us they are excited because we’ve heard customers from Cirencester who have been to other Dosa Parks in Oxfordshire, so us coming here is ideal for them and over time we hope to build good relationships with customers.”
