Renewed enthusiasm

Your Top 100 rankings always causes some debate in the clubhouse and this year was no exception. While there were a few grumbles from some of my playing partners about certain positions, everyone was in agreement that the list highlights how lucky we are to play golf in this country. Such variety and strength in depth.

I’ve played 23 of these fine courses and your rankings have given me renewed enthusiasm to get out and about and tick a few more off this year.

What other sport can offer such opportunities to travel and meet interesting people in such beautiful settings? It’s certainly something I appreciate more as I get older. My handicap may be going in the wrong direction but my love for the game has never been higher!

Editor’s reply: Rob, I’m glad the new rankings have provided some inspiration and sparked some debate. It’s a significant undertaking but letters like this make it all worthwhile.
