Slipping standards

The standard of appropriate clothing generally in the UK is poor and appears to deteriorate every year. When Peter Alliss said the last time he had seen anything similar to John Daly’s outfit at the Senior Open was on the TV show Homes under the Hammer, it may have been amusing but it was a serious point.

Wearing appropriate clothing of your choice should not be an issue. Making excuses for inappropriate clothing, such as not keeping up with the times and encouraging the younger generation, reflects a growing disrespect and lack of consideration. It is possible to dress in smart casual clothing without spending a lot of money, it only takes a little thought and effort.
