FOOTJOY FLEECE QUILTED JACKET

-

This jacket is for golfers who want a warm, stylish option they can wear on and off the golf course.

Key technology

The Footjoy Fleece Quilted jacket has a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) coating, which offers added wet-weather protection. Lightweight insulation keeps the golfer warm, while the stretch properties allow the wearer to swing freely.

A full-length water-repellent zip up to the neck also helps to keep out the elements. It features two zipped side pockets for additional storage or hand warming and a zipped ‘scorecard’ pocket on the chest. Comes in black, navy or charcoal grey.

How we tested

We wore the black option on and off the course over a number of weeks in different weathers. on cold days, while the elasticated cuffs stop the sleeves hanging down too far.

You could argue that there’s a little excess material around the torso, and that the styling is more appropriate off the course than on it. But overall, the Footjoy Fleece Quilted jacket is a comfy, versatile and premiumfeeling garment that any owner would get considerable wear from in all manner of different conditions. Therefore, you’d have to say it represents excellent value for money.

The Speedback shaping has allowed more mass to be added low and wide on the heel and toe. When combined with up to 33g of tungsten in the 4- to 7- irons, the MOI has increased by up to ten per cent, creating more stability for improvements in ball speed, distance, forgiveness and accuracy on longer approaches.

Lie angles have been modified in the One Length irons, while wider soles in the 4- to 6-irons aid a higher launch. Use of three different KBS shaft weights through the set helps create more consistent performance. Cobra Connect, powered by Arccos, comprises electronically enabled grips that give users the ability to track their performance via a smartphone app. We tested the irons on the Foresight Sports Gcquad, before hitting them on the range and course at West Hill Golf Club to further assess performance.

How we tested

The Power Holes have been combined with Wilson’s thinnest ever face, which helps create more ball speed through added flexion. Lastly, a wider sole has helped move the weight in the clubhead lower, deeper and more towards the heel and toe,
