FOOTJOY FURY SHOE VERDICT T

-

his shoe is for golfers who want stability and grip, as well as soft-feeling comfort.

Key technology

The added comfort comes from a one-piece Inner Fit Sleeve – a tongue system that wraps around the top of the foot to keep it in place – an FTF+ midsole and a dual-layer Fitbed. The latter features a memory foam layer that returns energy and another that moulds to the shape of your foot over time, delivering a more customised fit. Stability comes from the TPU outsole, assisted by a new Flexgrid MLC Cage system that attaches the laces to the midsole for a more locked-in fit. We wore Fury over a number of rounds in different conditions. Fury fills the gap in FJ’S range of a performance shoe with a big focus around comfort, thanks to the welcome padding around the ankles and underfoot. Any concerns over the outlandish styling will soon disappear when you lace up a pair for the first time. It seems to take the stability of Hyperflex and comfort and lightweight nature of Freestyle and blend them together. The grip is also excellent, with all the different traction elements combining to maintain a stable footing from all lies.

The mesh section at the front of the shoe prevents any creasing of the leather along the line where your toes flex – a minor complaint of PRO/SL. This section is also easy to clean thanks to the coating. Most will benefit from the added stability over many other FJ models in 2019, but it is the comfort that will make Fury an instant hit. Be sure to try it on first as the snug fit might warrant a slightly larger size.
