Sami Valimaki

Young star Sami Valimaki, already a winner on the European Tour at just 22, was born in Nokia, Finland, a town made famous by the eponymous telecommunications giant.

He completed his compulsory military service in Finland in 2018 before turning pro in 2019 and winning his first event, the Open Casa Green Golf in Casablanca, Morocco. He secured his card for the 2020 European Tour season at Q-school and went on to win the Oman Open in just his sixth start on the circuit. In December, he was named Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year – the first Finn to receive the accolade.

Valimaki represented his country at the 2018 European Amateur Team Championship, where Finland defeated England in the final. His favourite golf course in the world is Royal Birkdale and his dream four-ball would be Americans Tiger Woods and Dustin Johnson and fellow Finn Tapio Pulkkanen.
