James Braid Inland Courses
This fine and varied handful of courses have all been influenced by one of the game’s greatest architects
North Hants
With subsequent changes by Colt and Simpson, and more recently by Steel and Mackenzie, this majestic design dates back to 1904 and runs through fabulous specimen trees. The key to good scoring is to approach the wellprotected greens from the correct angle. The club has a strong connection with Justin Rose, who is an honorary member and won the prestigious Hampshire Hog here in 1994.

The Isle of Man has several attractive courses and makes for a very interesting golf destination. Although its origins are a little hazy, it is understood that Braid was involved in modifying the initial 1895 Sandy Herd design, which itself was created to cement Peel’s reputation as a holiday town. The course is surrounded by beautiful hills and unspoilt countryside and features just one par 5 and four par 3s.
