Golf Monthly

Letter of the Month

- Tom Brooks, via email

I’ve seen a lot of discussion on social media about what clubs should be doing for members during the latest lockdown. Some people have argued for refunds, and this is understandable when so many are facing financial worries. I have been lucky enough to keep my job during the pandemic but have been working from home, which has meant I barely leave the house. When my club opened during last summer it was a lifeline for me.

This lockdown has felt even tougher in some ways, mainly due to the weather and short days. One of the things keeping me going is the knowledge that my club is working hard to maintain the course and it will be in good shape when we’re eventually allowed to return. I’m happy to keep paying my subs as they are worth every penny to me. In these dark times, a return to golf is one of the few bright prospects on the horizon.
