Robert Trent Jones Jnr is known for his bold, dramatic and extremely photogenic designs, and his superb new creation just to the south of Da Nang on Vietnam’s eastern shore is certainly no exception. Achieving the accolade of ‘World’s Best New Golf Course 2020’ from the World Golf Awards, it is the latest addition to an area that is home to a number of topquality and memorable courses.

As its name implies, the course is linksy in nature with the holes running over a vast expanse of dunes. The fairways are subtly undulating but it’s an easy and extremely enjoyable walk, with the front nine slightly more inland.

The back nine heads down to the beach at the beautiful and dramatic par-5 10th, and again from the 15th round to the short 17th. Throughout, the bunkering is sublime, at times bleeding into the dunes and lending to a feeling of the course and nature being at one. There are fine views out over the sea and to the Cham Islands, and the off-course and clubhouse facilities are all first-class.
