Accessible for all

-

The equality and gender issues facing the world have me thinking how golf can become accessible to everyone regardless of age, gender and ethnicity. One solution is to get rid of the ‘gendered’ tees. I have never understood why the concept exists, especially when we have a handicap process in place that is a measure of a player’s ability.

Tees should be based upon ability not gender. Not only would it make handicaps a true comparison, it would also provide a natural development for the golfer and make the game more accessible to everyone. Let’s measure everyone the same and make the sport accessible for all.

Correction: On page 89 of the May issue, we incorrectly referred to the AIG Women’s Open as the Women’s British Open, for which we apologise.
