Ping’s VP of engineering answers our questions…

-

How are these putters different to what Ping has had before?

I’d describe them as an evolution of what we’ve been working on for many years. We have a number of brand new models in the line – the CA 70 and DS 72 both came from our chief putter engineer Tony Serrano’s work with PGA Tour players to deliver midmallets that suit the eye and stroke.

Why are the standard grips not adjustable for length?

This was a difficult decision. The adjustable-length feature can have a big impact on performance. That said, we’ve found in some environments having fixed-length putters at specific length options seems to work better. The adjustable shaft also has a softer feel that isn’t liked by all players.
