CALLAWAY EPIC MAX LS DRIVER £499

Arguably our favourite of the three new Epic models, it is a little unusual in concept as it’s low-spinning (LS) yet sits within the Max (forgiving) franchise. Its more stretched-out look at address will appeal to a wider range of players.

Callaway’s new Jailbreak Speedframe, designed using artificial intelligence, makes it consistently faster and we found it very forgiving despite keeping spin low. Sliding weights are less common these days but the 13g one in the rear of the sole here offers 14 yards of potential shot-shape correction. We liked how this toned down our natural draw; others will enjoy being able to eliminate one side of the course without losing distance.
