Sandy Lyle’s Major breakthrough only came after an anxious moment here in 1985. Missing the green left, Lyle’s chip didn’t make it up the slope and his ball trickled back towards him. He bravely two-putted from distance to set a two-over target that neither David Graham nor Langer could match.
