G425 Metalwoods and Crossover
New technologies that promise more forgiveness and distance mean Ping’s 2021 metalwood range could hold the keys to higher levels of performance this year
G425 Max driver
The G425 Max has the highest MOI of any Ping driver to date, thanks to a 26g movable tungsten weight at the back of the clubhead. This shifts the CG lower and further back and can be moved between neutral, draw and fade settings depending on preference.
Ping’s Trajectory Tuning 2.0 features a hosel sleeve with eight positions for more adjustability to cater for all swing types.
A high-strength forged face maximises flex for fast ball speeds across a wider area to deliver more distance on off-centre strikes.
G425 SFT driver
SFT stands for Straight Flight Technology, which uses a draw bias that is engineered to bring shots back on line and help left-to-right golfers find more fairways.
This draw bias is achieved via a fixed 23g tungsten weight that shifts the centre of gravity closer to the heel, accentuating a more right-to-left shot shape for righthanded golfers.
A lighter D1 swing weight in the SFT model helps to further correct the ball flight of those eager to neutralise or reduce the effects of fades or slices from the tee.
G425 LST driver
LST stands for Low Spin Technology, with the pear-shaped 445cc head greatly reducing spin to benefit golfers with faster swing speeds.
The design of the latest LST helps reduce spin by around 200-400rpm compared with last year’s model and by 500-700rpm compared with the G425 Max. This translates into a flatter, lower-launching trajectory at faster swing speeds.
The LST model benefits from a movable 17g weight that can be placed in neutral, draw or fade settings depending on the golfer’s preference of shot shape.
G425 fairway woods
Across the G425 fairway wood range, Ping innovations called ‘Facewrap’ and ‘Spinsistency’ work together to create clubs that deliver distance and predictable spin. This consistency means they are great whether you’re looking to carry hazards or fire it into the green.
The ‘Facewrap’ technology utilises thinner, high-strength steel that wraps into the crown and sole. This allows the face to flex more and helps pave the way to faster ball speeds, added distance and a higher launch.
G425 hybrid
G425 hybrids feature the same ‘Facewrap’ and ‘Spinsistency’ technologies as the fairway woods. These clubs are designed to help you reach and hold greens and provide a forgiving option off the deck from all kinds of lies.
The G425 hybrid features a strategically placed tungsten sole weight to increase MOI and, in turn, forgiveness. It’s available in six different lofts from a 2-hybrid to a 7-hybrid. It also features Ping’s Trajectory Tuning 2.0 hosel that offers eight settings to help you fine-tune ball flight and shot shape.
G425 fairway woods also benefit from a new three-dot alignment system on the crown, which makes it easier than ever to line the club up correctly. It’s a great visual cue at address and a step on from last year’s G410.
Much like the driver, the fairway woods come in three head options: the Max, the low-spinning LST and the draw-biased SFT.
G425 fairway woods also feature Ping’s Trajectory Tuning 2.0 hosel, allowing you to choose one of eight settings to create the precise ball flight and shot shape you’re looking for.
