Benefits
Dr Andrew Murray, European Tour CMO, explains...
“If you’re playing professional golf, you’re getting health-enhancing physical activity and walking 10,000 steps per day, and on average golfers live five years longer than those who don’t play golf.
“It has longevity benefits, it has physical health benefits. You are slightly more likely to get blisters, athlete’s foot and wrist injuries, but you’re 40% less likely to get type 2 diabetes, heart attacks, strokes, dementia and various other issues. That goes for professionals and also members of the general public.
“People now recognise that science actually backs up common sense. If you get some green space, if you get some health-enhancing physical activity, there are significant mental health benefits and significant physical health benefits associated with golf.”
