Mizuno JPX921 Tour £150 (per club)
7-iron loft: 34°
Shaft: True Temper Dynamic Gold 120 X100
It has a slightly darker finish than the P7MC, with duller scorelines and more rounded edges throughout, as well as a wider sole, which makes it more forgiving through the turf.
It still offers up a quiet thud sound at impact, but is arguably a little more lively off the face – more consistently so on shots struck from just away from the sweetspot.
The flight on the JPX921 iron seemed to start a fraction lower but climb to reach a similar peak height, possibly due to the extra spin, which helped with stopping power into greens.
The JPX921 Tour was a little more solid from a wider area, producing tighter front-to-back dispersion than the P7MC. This was especially noticeable in the longer irons.
This iron is really aimed at the single-figure player and below, but it offered a little more forgiveness and consistency of distance and direction, making it more playable.
