People fear that with very little loft and the ball on the ground, they need to help it up. As such, they lean back through impact or scoop at it with the hands, both of which invariably lead to topping it. Higher-lofted woods may also help here as many club golfers don’t generate enough speed to reap the maximum benefit of lower-lofted models off the deck.
