Mix and match

- John O’donnell, via email Robert Doyle, Huddersfield

The Ryder Cup is one of the most exciting and globally watched sporting events, closely followed by the

Solheim Cup, but the Presidents Cup falls way short in this regard – I doubt golf fans could even name the last two captains of both sides. May I be so bold as to suggest a new formula for the Presidents Cup...

Six players from each Ryder Cup team and six players from each Solheim Cup team, USA v Europe, played in the same format as the Ryder Cup. Every pair’s match would be made up of one male and one female from each side playing off their respective tees.

Could you just imagine Lexi Thompson and Tiger Woods v Rory Mcilroy and Leona

Maguire In foursomes/ fourballs? For the singles, Match One would be man v man and Match Two woman v woman and so on. Now that is one golf tournament I would definitely look forward to!
