Footjoy Hydrotour Jacket £225 GM Verdict

-

For golfers who like to get their golfing fix all year round, having a waterproof jacket that’s able to withstand the winter weather is imperative.

The Hydrotour is the headline garment in FJ’S new Hydroseries range for 2021. It comes with a full zip so taking it on and off is easy and it feels supremely comfortable to wear. It offers a nice, snug fit without restricting the swing, while it also kept us warm at all times. Truth be told, that is probably the only drawback in that, when the weather is warm and wet, something a little more lightweight would perhaps be more suitable.

We found the material had a premium feel as well as providing golfers with the confidence needed to be able to swing with total freedom. This key performance attribute comes courtesy of a four-way stretch material.

An innovative feature well worth mentioning is the Dryseal double collar system. This has a cinch cord on the inner layer to keep the rain out plus two small holes on the outer layer that encourage the water to run down the back of the jacket, thus keeping your neck dry. It may only seem like a minor detail but it definitely does make a difference, especially when the heavens really open.

It was the navy with black and bright red version of this jacket that we put through its paces in testing but it also comes in black with charcoal and lime, which looks great too.

Hands down, it is one of the best waterproof jackets we’ve tested in recent times. Not only does it provide the complete protection from the elements that you need on the rainiest of days, but it’s also a really stylish offering that gives the wearer total confidence to swing unrestricted thanks to that four-way stretch material.
