ASK THE EXPERTS
Will we see any significant new courses in the UK&I in the next few years? Chris Walker, Somerset
A number of highprofile projects have fallen by the wayside or been put on to the back-burner in recent years, among them a second course at Castle Stuart designed by Arnold Palmer, although that was reported to be back on the cards just before Covid struck.
Coul Links – a Mike Keiser project in Sutherland near Dornoch – may yet happen, too. Environmentalists are opposed, but local group ‘Communities for Coul’ believes it will be good for the region.
Plans for the stopstart Tom Weiskopf course on the outskirts of St Andrews appear to have been resurrected under the new name of the Feddinch Club. And new life has also been breathed into the Jack Nicklaus project on the Ury Estate in Aberdeenshire, with the opening provisionally set for summer 2024 – 15 years after it was originally slated.
