Who will win more Majors: Jordan Spieth or Collin Morikawa?

-

Four years ago, this wouldn’t even have been a question. However, given the career trajectories of the two players since Jordan Spieth won The Open at Royal Birkdale in 2017, it’s easy to see why the results are so askew.

Since turning pro in 2019, Collin Morikawa has risen through the ranks in quick fashion, locking up his maiden PGA Tour win after only six starts. The 24-year-old now boasts five professional wins, two of which have come in Majors with another at a WGC event, proving he is a golfer for the big occasion.

It is Morikawa’s iron play that makes him such a threat. For his career, he has gained an average of 1.03 strokes per round on the field with his approach play, second on the all-time standings only to Tiger Woods (+1.26). But rule out Spieth at your peril. The enigmatic Texan returned to the winner’s circle in 2021, showing flashes of his former self and running Morikawa close for the Claret Jug at Royal St George’s. With his penchant for Augusta National, he could easily add to his Major tally before you know it.
