Letter of the Month
As much as I enjoyed the Aviv Dubai Championship recently, I was disappointed to see so many divots littering the fairways. With all these wonderful golfers taking huge strips of the lush turf and thereby leaving significant holes in the landing areas for their fellow pros to dodge, I would have liked, no, expected these divots to be replaced. But, unfortunately, this rarely seemed to happen.
What happened to leading by example? No wonder the organisers move the tees up and down. It’s not only to bring some greens potentially within reach of a magnificent drive, but just as importantly, give the popular landing areas a rest.
This has certainly made me more conscious of replacing any turf that I ever happen to disturb, which can’t be a bad thing.
