Great work Nick!
I am not sure I have ever read an article as instantly relatable as that from Nick Dougherty [December issue]. While golf is inherently technical, for us amateurs we can get more from our game by focusing on the mental, strategic and decisionmaking elements.
Not beating ourselves up after a poor shot (or shots!) and not following a bad shot with another. Thinking our way round the course: what to avoid, where to aim on the greens, selecting the right club for the distance, and actually enjoying the experience even when it is fundamentally difficult and frustrating!
We ultimately play this game for fun and should try and always remember this. Thanks Nick, the article has given me a muchneeded change of mindset.
