The world of golf lost a legend in Lee Elder, the pioneering pro who fought and broke some of the sport’s racial barriers. Elder, who died aged 87, famously became the first black golfer to play in The Masters in 1975.

A host of UK golf courses have introduced a new system for laying out tees. Hartford, Sheringham and Trentham Park are among a number of clubs which have opted to set their courses up based on ability rather than gender.
