Katie is an Advanced PGA Professional and has been teaching for over 20 years. She puts a huge emphasis on getting her pupils to be as relaxed as possible, thinking clearly on the course and having as much fun as they can, which is why she also loves to coach people in the comfort of their own homes.

“I coach the person and not just the game, and discuss everything as life affects golf. It makes for a more personal lesson that reaches the root cause of why golfers struggle. I show them how they can improve in their space. They are in their comfort zone and are much more at ease. Some people find it intimidating going to a big studio and hitting balls next to other players. I have a concept called Gardengolf, where I can go to their homes and can get similar if not better results with the golfers who I work with.”

Katie has a Facebook page for pupils with an improvement plan so they can write notes and feedback following a lesson or round. One common fault Katie sees is the early extension at impact. “The golfer stands up at the ball almost trying to lift it in

the air. This stops that shift of weight in the downswing and makes the arms the main power source. We will adjust posture and let that set-up fix have a chain reaction to improve impact position without the golfer having to overthink it.”
