Rounds of golf played in Great Britain on the rise
Research undertaken by Sports Marketing Surveys (SMS) has found 12 per cent more rounds were played in Great Britain in 2021 than 2020, rising for the fourth consecutive year.
Survey reveals 60% of golf clubs now have a waiting list
As participation numbers have risen, so too has the demand to join golf clubs. A Hillier Hopkins LLP survey has revealed 60% of clubs now have a waiting list, up from 22% in 2019.
Protests at closure of 126-year-old Berkshire course
Maidenhead GC faces closure after the local council approved plans to build 2,000 homes on the site. However, the proposal to shut the course has since faced opposition in the form of a 150-person demonstration.
