Wilson Launch Pad Range
From £175
Designed to combat an inconsistent swing, Wilson’s new Launch Pad range is packed full of slice-fighting and strike-saving assistance for the high-handicap golfer. As well as a fresh look, the woods and irons benefit from the use of computer modelling software and CAD impact simulations to optimise the design for the improving player.
The Launch Pad irons are hollow like a metalwood for speed and boast maximum forgiveness through the turf thanks to the wide sole, helping achieve smaller and shallower divots and rescue a heavy contact by keeping the leading edge off the ground. The back wall of the iron has been thinned out to move more weight lower in the head for added launch. At address, you will notice the slightly thinner topline and a new paint is designed to resist scuffing.
The Launch Pad driver is one of the lightest on the market, coupled with a lightweight Evenflow shaft to help achieve more effortless swing speed. Designed with a larger PKR (Peak Kinetic Response) face also found on the brand’s D9 driver, it features an increased bulge radius to disguise the closed face and offset hosel. The +2˚ upright lie angle decreases the chance of a slice along with progressive heelside weighting internally as the loft increases.
The Launch Pad fairway woods are designed with the same ultra-lightweight clubhead and shaft as the driver as well as a high-strength and super-thin Carpenter Custom 455 face for higher-ball speeds, a draw-biased flight and distance. Positioned between fairways and irons, golfers have the option of two Launch Pad hybrids or a stronger-lofted Fybrid, ensuring proper gapping for every player.
The Launch Pad range goes on sale on March 14 with the following RRPS: driver: £305; fairway: £200; hybrids and Fybrid: £175; irons £600 (5-PW).
XXIO 12 range from £329
This lightweight range’s Activwing technology on the woods helps square the face. The irons have a thinner face and heavier head to maximise ball speed.
