Why do I keep topping the ball?

-

By Top 50 Coach Katie Dawkins

Too much tension in the grip is a frequent issue. The forearm muscles contract and shorten, which lifts the club off the ground before you’ve even started. People also try to help the ball up to clear any trouble – they get stuck on the back foot and end up scooping at it. Try not to strangle the club quite as much at set-up and adopt a more relaxed, athletic posture at address, so you’re tilted over more and the spine isn’t too upright.
