Seventeen years ago, Adidas introduced the Tour360 shoe and it has reached iconic status, resonating with thousands of golfers worldwide. The latest iteration for 2022 incorporates elements from the original designs with new technology to improve fit and traction.
The overall look hasn’t changed a great deal from the Tour360 XT shoe we saw two years ago – the recognisable three stripes running from top to bottom remain, but you are now getting full-length Boost cushioning along the outside of the feet. It juts in on the instep, which is a little strange, but having it on the outside between your foot and an outsole cleat helps provide stability and grip when your weight is shifting during the swing.
The shoe feels lightweight and the fit and feel is snug without pinching, wrapping neatly around your foot with very few gaps. This partly comes down to the Feet You Wear last that accommodates the movement of the foot.
The leather upper requires minimal softening or wearing in, and you really do notice a spring in your step as you walk right out of the box. This enhances the walking comfort, although the heel section does feel quite rigid – this is ideal for swing support, but some golfers may experience rubbing from the high back made from quite a tacky leather material.
During testing, this shoe performed exceptionally well in terms of stability and grip, even in damp conditions. In fact, the six cleats of differing sizes are directly injected into the base of the shoe, so you shouldn’t have to worry about losing them. Along with the plentiful and varied outsole nubs elsewhere, the sole really gets into the ground to prevent slipping when swinging.
The shoe looks premium and well made and even incorporates recycled materials into the design, continuing Adidas’ goal of ending plastic waste. The rich leather upper wipes clean easily, unlike the Boost sections that will require more regular attention when it comes to cleaning. Dirt can also get under the three stripes over time.
The Adidas Tour360 22 shoe ticks every box in terms of year-round performance and will visually enhance any outfit.
