Bamburgh Castle

GF Round: £65; day: £75 all week Bamburgh Castle was founded in 1904 and little has changed since Bernard Darwin sung its praises in the 1920s. Indeed, little has ever needed to change, and the course is defined by its fabulous craggy topography. Unusually, it opens with two short holes and then back-to-back par 5s, with the first par 4 not until the 5th hole. With its far-reaching views, glorious scenery, birdie opportunities and informality, this is simply one of the most likeable clubs and courses.
