Danny Willett:

British Masters and Prostate Cancer UK

-

Danny Willett is an ambassador for Prostate Cancer UK – the official charity of the Betfred British Masters. For Willett, being host at the iconic British Masters, an event first held 76 years ago, is a great honour.

“I’m very proud to host it again,” he says. “I’m excited to showcase what The Belfry has to offer and to welcome fans to the event. It was a shame we were unable to do that last year. It’s a fabulous venue and I’m sure we’ll have a brilliant week. Not only will we be raising money for Prostate Cancer UK, but we will also be trying to raise awareness of prostate cancer.

“I think that as men, when something doesn’t feel right, we don’t necessarily tell anyone about it, but you absolutely should. I know various people who have been affected by prostate cancer and luckily they have come through it. It’s just having that awareness it’s something that, as men, we can chat about.

“Football has been great with it, with a lot of people within the sport wearing the ‘man of men’ pin for a few years now, and golf is playing a big role, too. Hopefully we can help people understand a little more about it and encourage guys that we should go and get checked sooner rather than later.”
