Puttout Premium Pressure putt trainer £29.99

-

Simple yet incredibly effective, Puttout launched this upgraded ‘premium’ version of its popular training aid last year. There is an awful lot to like about it. The physics remain the same with the scientifically shaped parabolic ramp, but it has been tweaked to add numerous improvements to what was already a great product.

Watch the pros on the TV and they’re usually hitting the back of the hole, while many of us are dribbling the ball into the front (or short of it) in our weekend knocks.

The perfect putt

The ramp’s clever design means that each ‘made’ putt is returned to the same distance it would have gone past the hole had it missed. If you make a ‘perfect’ putt (perfect line with a pace that would take it 18ins past), your ball will stick in the micro-target set in the ramp.

This Premium Pressure version features a taller ramp than on previous models to allow for longer putts, better traction through more defined underside spikes and a heavier base for increased stability. It also has a smoother folding mechanism.

Based on feedback from leading coaches and players, an alignment stick holder has been added near the top of the ramp which can be paired with Puttout’s Alignment Stick Set or your own. Many top players use an elevated string line when putting to help with face alignment and path, so this will allow you to create something similar from the comfort of home.

Now more visual

The three small dots midway to the micro-target are a new addition and are there to provide another target to suit both putts hitting the back of the hole and those requiring a bit of break. A more visible pop-down target helps with aim.

Given that it accounts for some 45 per cent of our shots, very few of us work on our putting enough, but this excellent device makes practice time more effective by providing a realistic test.
