THE MAJORS (WOMEN)

-

Four of the five women’s Majors will be played at new venues in 2023. The Chevron Championship will visit a new course for the first time since the tournament’s inception. It will be contested at The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas. Jennifer Kupcho will defend the title. The tournament has been moved from early to late April. There will also be a new venue for the US Women’s Open in 2023 – historic Pebble Beach Golf Links. It has hosted six US Opens, but this year the women take centre stage. Australia’s Minjee Lee defends the title from June 6-9.

Continuing its recent tradition of travelling to historic facilities, the KPMG PGA Championship will be contested at Baltusrol from June 22-25. In-gee Chun of South Korea defends after seeing off Lexi Thompson at Congressional. Baltusrol Golf Club in New Jersey has twice played host to the US Women’s Open, but it will be a first visit for the PGA.

Canadian Brooke Henderson will be defending champion in the Evian Championship from July 20-23. Once again held at the Evian Resort Golf Club in France, the event has been recognised as a Major on the LPGA Tour since 2013. The list of winners reads like a who’s who of women’s professional golf.

As in the men’s game, the year’s final women’s Major will be played in the UK. The AIG Women’s Open will be contested for the first time at Walton Heath GC from August 10-13, where South Africa’s Ashleigh Buhai will defend. Walton Heath has previously welcomed the Ryder Cup and the Senior Open.
