Footjoy Hyperflex shoes from £159.99
Building on the success of the 2021 Hyperflex shoe, golfers can expect the same lightweight, athletic experience from the latest iteration, but with the crucial addition of enhanced stability and control to maximise power and performance through the golf swing. The Hyperflex and brand-new Hyperflex Carbon golf shoes both feature an Optiflex outsole design, which promotes stability by maximising ground contact and harnessing lateral movement where you need it for the golf swing. It also flexes while you stride to provide a comfortable walking experience. Grip comes from six low-profile Pulsar LP cleats by Softspikes, while a waterproof and breathable performance mesh upper is vacuumformed with a moulded, ribbed-knit saddle for structure and support.
A Thermoplastic saddle strap wraps the foot, providing additional lateral and medial support and control when swinging full out. FJ’S Stratofoam midsole cushioning material, which first featured on the sophisticated Stratos shoe, delivers comfort and support tuned specifically for golf. It provides the right amount of cushioning to absorb shock while maximising energy return to reduce foot fatigue.
For those looking for even more stability, the all-new Hyperflex Carbon shoe also features a moulded carbon fibre power plate, along with additional underfoot cushioning via an Ortholite Impressions Fitbed. This provides immediate step-in comfort and moulds for a custom fit over time.
The Hyperflex is on sale now in three colours in laced, with an RRP of £159.99, and two colours in Boa at £184.99. The Hyperflex Carbon golf shoe comes in two colours in laced only, with an RRP of £189.99. Two ladies’ laced versions are available in two colours – white/purple and pink/white – for £159.99.
1. How do you design a golf shoe that is very lightweight but also stable?
We focus on developing foams that are specific to golf that can achieve a lightweight feel, but we also have reinforced materials and/or additional durometer foams that provide underfoot stability, which has been executed in this latest iteration of Hyperflex. This model has an innovative dual-durometer foam that encompasses our pinnacle comfort foam, Stratofoam, as a top layer for that plush first feel, then a firmer foam underneath that maintains stability throughout the swing. It’s a balance that we pay a lot of attention to during development.
2. Explain how and why you’ve integrated carbon into the Hyperflex Carbon and how this will benefit the golfer?
We chose carbon to ensure tourlevel stability and structure. We’ve seen a high level of success here, especially on tour with carbon via our PRO/SL franchise, so we had history and confidence that we could achieve this in Hyperflex. Carbon helps enable those high-swingspeed, discerning golfers to use the ground more throughout their swing.
3. Explain how Optiflex zones work within the Hyperflex?
Optiflex is a design language that promotes flexibility during walking. The serpentine aesthetic enables those flex grooves to work with the golfer’s foot, which should make Hyperflex a comfortable golf shoe to walk 18 holes or more in. It will perform at a high level on every shot from a grip and stability perspective, especially on steep slopes or sidehill lies.
“ADDING THE STABILITY OF CARBON INTO AN ATHLETIC SHOE LIKE HYPERFLEX MAKES PERFECT SENSE”
